The Truth Lies at the Edge: A Kayla Hicks Book Review
What is it about?
Lexi’s spent years surviving—two jobs, mounting bills, and a one-room apartment. Love isn’t even an option.
Until Collin W. Radcliff walks in.
He’s powerful, charming, and impossibly out of her league—a man who could have anyone, yet somehow wants her.
One glance. One choice.
Collin might be her chance at a new life… or her most dangerous mistake. Money can buy anything—except trust.
Because the truth lies at the edge of love and deception… and everything is about to change.
My Review:
Lexi has been moving through the motions of life after the passing of her mom. Working two jobs, living in a small and crappy apartment, and most of all, not living up to her potential. So when Collin, one of her wealthy regular customers at the restaurant, steps up his game and starts dating her, Lexi is swept away. And just when Lexi didn't think life could get any better, she and Collin went to hike the Grand Canyon on their honeymoon, and it wasn't what either of them expected. Lies are uncovered, relationships are questioned, and people are torn apart.
Melissa Roos did a wonderful job leading the reader through a whirlwind romance of Collin and Lexi, allowing us to see how life can change when we find the right person. But it also allowed the reader to see how our differences can sometimes not be overcome in the end. Lexi is not from the world of the rich, so it takes some adjusting. And Collin, while lovable, is always looking for another adventure, which leads Lexi to be tugged along.
Although most of this book was a clean romance and an underdog story, slowly, in bits and pieces, we see that there is an underlying mystery working between the scenes. And while I had my suspicions about who the culprit was, I was completely surprised by who the actual culprit was in the end.
I give this a 5-star review.
