The Day I Died: A Kayla Hicks Book Review
"This story felt like talking to a friend about one of the darkest points in their life. The imagery used by the author pulls you in instantly."- B.W. Walker
What is it about?
This is the story of why a teenage girl named Rachel tries to kill herself. Her entire life is changed when she survives her attempt, but she's surprised by the ripple effect it has on the world around her. Sometimes living is harder than dying, but that doesn't mean that being alive isn't worth it.
My review:
This was a powerful story in which the other characters didn't respond to the main characters' actions as I'd expected.
However, it was a nice change to see how her actions negatively affected her world rather than the weeping thankfulness an audience is typically greeted with in a situation like this.
I do wish there was more to the story, however, as I felt it wrapped too quickly.
I would give this a four-star review.
